White vs Wood-Tone Melamine Plywood for Cabinets

Compare two Berta finishes for cabinet interiors, closets, shelving, and visible storage panels.

The quick answer: choose white for a plain, bright interior and a choice of thicknesses. Choose wood-tone for a decorative wood-grain appearance on both faces of a nominal 3/4-inch panel. Compare samples before committing to a full-sheet order.

Choose the look your cabinet needs

White melamine

A plain background for the contents

Consider white for cabinet interiors, utility storage, and closets where you want a simple, consistent-looking background. This range also offers thinner panels for parts specified at 12 or 6 mm.

White tone and sheen still matter. Compare a sample with your doors and edge banding.

Wood-tone melamine

A visible decorative grain

Consider wood-tone for open shelves, visible cabinet interiors, and closet panels where the wood-grain pattern is part of the design. Plan the pattern direction across neighboring parts.

This is a decorative melamine face, not exposed natural wood veneer to stain.

Common questions

Is wood-tone melamine real wood veneer?

The visible finish is decorative wood-grain melamine over a plywood core. It is not exposed wood veneer intended for staining.

Are these the same plywood with different colors?

Do not assume identical construction. The white listing identifies a multi-ply poplar core; the wood-tone listing identifies 11-ply cabinet-grade plywood without specifying the core species. Confirm any required core specification before substituting one for the other.

Can I combine white interiors with wood-tone visible panels?

Yes, you can plan different finishes for different parts. Compare samples together and confirm actual thickness, joinery, visible faces, and edge treatments for every component.

Does either finish make a shelf stronger?

Finish color does not establish shelf capacity. Check core construction, actual thickness, span, supports, load, and fasteners against your design requirements. These listings do not provide a load rating for your particular shelf.

Do melamine faces make the plywood waterproof?

No waterproof assembly claim is made for these panels. Protect exposed edges and joints from persistent moisture and use appropriate edge treatment for the application.

Which thickness should I select on the white product page?

The main white button selects White Melamine / 18 mm, sold as nominal 3/4 inch. Separate links above select 12 or 6 mm. Check the finish and thickness in the product selector before adding to cart.
