Gas Strut FAQ

Gas struts (also called hydraulic gas springs) are designed to hold cabinet doors open and provide smooth, controlled closing. They’re commonly used for overhead lift-up cabinet doors in kitchens, offices, and storage areas.

Unlike hinges alone, gas struts add lift assistance, prevent doors from slamming, and keep doors open at a set angle for easier access.

Berta gas struts come in different newton strengths (N ratings) such as 100N, 120N, and 150N to support various cabinet door weights.

Measure the weight of your cabinet door. Light doors typically need 100N, medium doors 120N, and heavier doors 150N. If unsure, start lower — stronger struts can be harder to close.

Yes — they fit frameless and face-frame cabinets and can be installed on wood, MDF, or laminate doors with standard mounting brackets.
