Start with the required countertop elevation, the cabinet body height and the complete countertop build-up. Include any specified underlayment or support layer above the box. A cabinet leg’s catalog height is not the same thing as finished counter height.
Use dimensions measured from the same reference. Then check how the leg’s mounting plate or socket contributes to its installed height. Do not add a mounting-plate allowance twice if it is already included in the published measurement.

If the finished floor drops farther along the run, the gap below a level cabinet grows. Check that location before deciding that a leg with a 4-inch setting will fit the entire installation.

Find the floor’s high point across the full run
Use a level laser line and measure vertically down to the floor at the planned front and rear support locations. The shortest distance from that fixed line identifies the highest measured floor point. Check corners and appliance bays too.
Mark the planned cabinet-top line from the approved finished-height design. Use this one reference throughout the installation rather than measuring up the same distance from the floor beside every cabinet.
Why this matters: identical legs at identical extensions follow the floor’s slope. A level run needs different settings wherever the supporting floor changes height. Account for any flooring still to be installed before fixing cabinet and appliance elevations.

Each range has 30 mm of adjustment. Choosing the tallest model does not provide more leveling travel. Where ranges overlap, favor a suitable setting with adjustment room rather than working against a limit.

Suppose the mounting details have been checked and your installation needs 105 mm at its highest floor point. A support location 14 mm lower needs 119 mm to maintain the same cabinet elevation.

If the required span cannot fit a selected model, revise the support plan. Do not overextend the threads or improvise loose stacks beneath the feet to force a fit.
Where should cabinet leveler legs be installed?
The leg must transfer weight into the cabinet’s structural base—not merely into whatever panel is easiest to reach. Follow the cabinet maker’s support layout around sides, partitions and any reinforcement. An unsupported thin bottom is not automatically a suitable mounting surface.
Mounting interface
Match the plate, socket and hole pattern to the leg. Similar-looking replacement feet are not proof of compatibility.
Front setback
Coordinate the mounting location with the toe-kick face and its attachment. Do not guess a universal setback.
Wide or divided cabinets
Have the support layout address partitions, large spans and concentrated loads. Extra supports may be required.
Material and fasteners
Use the specified screw type, engagement and pilot holes for the actual mounting material. Avoid damaged fixing areas.
How many legs does each cabinet need?
Use the cabinet’s support plan, not the pack size. A four-piece pack is not an instruction to put four legs under every cabinet. Include the cabinet, countertop, contents and any supported equipment when checking the complete assembly.
Berta’s listings publish an up-to-330-lb load figure but state that it is not a complete cabinet-system rating. Do not multiply that figure by the number of legs to calculate an installation’s capacity.

Have a tape measure, level or laser, square, clamps, drill with a depth stop, and the specified mounting hardware ready. Work with empty cabinet boxes and enough help to reposition them safely.

Mark the cabinet-top reference and approved leg positions. Check floor variation, countertop build-up and appliance openings before making holes.

Place the empty box on a stable, padded work surface in the position allowed by its assembly instructions. Do not rest it on doors or drawer fronts.

Leveling one cabinet is not the same as leveling a run
A cabinet can read level by itself but still sit above its neighbor. Use a straightedge or the same laser reference across cabinet joints, checking both the front and rear top edges. The goal is one shared support plane for the countertop.
Across an appliance bay, check the cabinets on both sides rather than starting a new reference from the floor. Verify the appliance opening against its installation requirements and the planned finished floor.
Keep cabinets plumb as well as level. Use the cabinet maker’s specified packing at wall fixings where necessary; pulling a straight cabinet tightly against an uneven wall can change its shape. Recheck after joining and anchoring.
Coordinate the toe kick, clips and appliance clearance
The toe kick, or plinth, is the visible panel in front of the legs. Its height, setback and attachment are separate design decisions. A leg set at 120 mm does not automatically require a toe-kick board cut exactly 120 mm high.

Protect freshly cut panel edges with the finish specified for the material. Raising the cabinet off the floor does not protect it from every leak or make plywood and MDF waterproof.
