Planning deeper drawers with 24 inch full extension slides
Compare inches with metric dimensions carefully
Twenty-four inches converts to 609.6 mm, not 600 mm. A product sold as a 600 mm slide can have a different closed length, travel or mounting pattern. Verify the actual rail dimensions before replacing metric hardware or drilling a batch of drawer boxes.
Reach and weight are separate decisions
A deeper drawer can hold more items, but longer hardware does not establish a higher load rating. Plan the total drawer-plus-contents load and suitable support under the supplier’s conditions. Do not present these as locking industrial slides or heavy machinery hardware without a specific rating for that application.
Allow for the complete mounting envelope
Check that both rails have the required clear mounting space and remain parallel through their travel. Measure to obstructions on each side. A drawer that appears to fit while closed may still contact hardware or cabinet details as it opens.
Planning example: A project with twenty-four same-length drawers needs three 10-pair packs: thirty pairs in total, leaving six spare pairs. This calculates quantity only; each drawer still needs its own fit and load check.
24 inch drawer slide questions
Can these fit inside a 24-inch-deep cabinet?
Possibly only where the actual internal mounting layout meets the slide requirements. The exterior cabinet dimension is not enough to establish fit.
Are these 600 mm drawer slides?
They are sold as nominal 24-inch slides. The unit conversion is 609.6 mm. Do not assume compatibility with a 600 mm model without checking the actual dimensions.
Is there a 24-inch concealed undermount option in the linked product?
The linked undermount product lists 12, 15, 18 and 21 inch lengths, not 24 inches. The separate side-mount soft-close family does include a 24-inch option.
